The houses made of conifer logs are luxurious, carefully made, with high quality materials and detailed design, that can not only satisfy but also amaze even the most demanding architect. It is the combination of nature and architecture which gives us a magic result, like our childhood dreams, where nature and its secrets played with our fantasy. They reflect the balance, the beauty, the peacefulness and the silent power of nature and forest. The timber is natural, friendly and warm material and so is harmonised nicely, more than other materials, in the place we live, move and relax. Which other house can communicate so nicely the happy feeling of comfort, warmness and peace? The factor of comfort on the inside, because of the natural source of timber, is the best we can have comparing to other construction materials. The lack of technical and chemical materials which are bad for the health, set the houses made of tree logs, absolutely hygienic and ecologic.
Apart from all the above, if we also include the minimum time that is needed for the construction and the very low cost of maintenance, we understand that is the ideal solution, as has been proved in all European countries and United States. There are ready architectural proposals from experienced foreign and greek architects, in a country style, or classic mountainous, or traditional greek but also in styles that can correspond to different locations and different applied architectural laws. The large library of designs, in combination with the architects of our company, will help you develop your own unique ideas for your personal life style. Our commitment for perfection can be seen in the quality of the logs, in the careful design and in the high standard of our specialised technicians. Our effort for the materialisation of beautiful houses is proved from many and important works we have undertaken in Greece.
The logic of a log house is simple and very effective. The logwalls pass through special machines that take the circular or rectangular shape and simultaneously impressions and depressions are created, by the length of the logs, that aim at the full application and stabilisation for the horizontal placement of one on top of the other. The connections of the logs on the corners are made with corresponding notches in such a way that the logs are crossed and tied together. Between the logs, there is an insulation to ensure tightness. Bolts are also placed on the logwalls, with length equal to the height of the wall and dowells on default positions. This helps in the construction to be less bending and more solid.
The roof is made according to the requirements of Finland. The roof which is ventilated in all of its surface in combination with the thickness of the insulation which can be from 100 to 190mm. (glasswool or rockwool), has as a result the perfect behaviour in cold and warm conditions. In the following figure you can see the construction of the roof, starting from bottom to top: - Ceiling panel - Humidity barrier - Roof rafters - Insulation - Waterproof breathing membrane - Ventilation gap rafters - Roof boarding - Covering of asphaltic felt. The roof can also be constructed with visible joists for aesthetic purposes. The covering of the roof can be with asphaltic felt or roof tiles or any other material.
The construction of the intermediate floor, is accomplished with logs same as the logwalls that are placed every 400-600 mm. They form a part of the construction too, because with the notches on their edges, they "lock" on the logwalls like the logwalls does on the corners. Beneath these, a membrane and the roof casing (ceiling) is placed, between them insulation and on top of them the flooring boards. These logs or otherwise supporting joists, can also be visible for aesthetic purposes. On the side figure we see the supporting joists and the flooring boards. For the verandah and the balcony, specially processed joists and flooring boards are used in order to be protected from rotten, fungus and climatological conditions generally. The ground floor can be constructed with tiles, stone tiles or any other material as well as a combination of different materials.
We have the ability of choosing between rectangular, circular or semi-circular shapes of logs as well as different cross-sections of the above logs or glued laminated logs. that cover all needs, with criteria the aesthetic, the architectural, the static, the heat-insulation, the functionality and the cost.
